I Was Just Thinking

My kids don’t want to come and play.

They wave to tell me “go away”.

They hunch intent, unspeaking lumps,

eyes on screens, chairs glued to rumps.

I sigh, impatient for the day

this bunch gives me grandkids

so we can go play.
